What we publish, and how to send us your work

This newsroom exists for one kind of story: the work of keeping the living world going, told by the people doing it.

What belongs here

Field notes. What you saw, where, and when. A colony of bees moving into a wall. A river that ran clear for the first time in a decade. A grove that stayed standing because a village said no.

Documentation. Counts, photographs with dates, maps, restoration logs, a species list from a patch you have watched for years. Amateur records matter; most long-run ecological data started as somebody’s notebook.

Reporting. A forest rights claim moving through the system. A corridor about to be cut. A pollinator collapse nobody has written up.

Knowledge. How your family or community has managed water, seed, soil or forest, in your words, published only with your consent.

What we will not publish

Images of people, places or animals made by AI and passed off as real. Captive animals presented as wild. Numbers without a source. Stories about a community written by outsiders when that community has not agreed to it.

The rules we hold ourselves to

• Your name stays on your work. Every piece carries its author and, where relevant, the community it came from.
• Consent first. Nothing about a community is published without their free, prior and informed agreement, and they can withdraw it.
• We pay. Knowledge is work. Contributors share in what their pieces earn.
• Every number carries its source. On the page, every time.
• What is sacred stays theirs. Some knowledge is not for publishing. We ask, and we listen.

How to send it

Use the submission form. Text, photographs, audio, a scanned notebook page: all fine. Rough is fine too, we will edit with you rather than around you. Tell us the place, the date, and how you would like to be credited.
